Tension Between Rome’s New Favorite Gladiator and The Emperor Grows.

Formerly unknown slave, Arius the Barbarian , has no doubt found his place within the Colosseum walls as Rome’s new favorite Gladiator and popular killing machine. The Barbarian really skyrocketed to fame after slaying Rome’s former supreme gladiator Belleraphon.

There had been talk of Arius’s true goal : to get a rudius. Something that would free him from being a slave of the Colosseum and set him free from his master, Gallus, leader of Rome’s top gladiator training camp. In a recent interview with Gallus , he stated ,” the dear boy is getting soft..” (Quinn 76). Many of the gladiators that share quarters with him speculate that he has another underlying cause for gaining his freedom.

But despite all of the slaying that Arius has done for the Emperor Domitian’s entertainment, he still refuses to give him what he so longs for: his rudius. Arius, appearing outraged after another slaying in the Colosseum , shocked the crowd as he publicly threatened the Emperor after he yet again refused him his rudius. The Emperor laughed in response , and the palace guards dragged the Barbarian away back into the Hall of the Living. It took 8 guards to finally subdue him.

The tension is definitely growing rapidly between these two, stay updated here at The Seven Hills Times.
